We know we are not alone when we say we have fallen in love with the Instagram and blogger couple Robert and Christina, of New Darlings. We decided to team up with New Darlings for our Valentine's post, because, who better to represent Valentine's Day than this sweet couple? Not only are Robert and Christina adorable to look at, they are genuinely great people with a wonderful love story.
Recently while styling and photographing New Darlings for this adorable Valentine's Day shoot, we asked them a few questions about their love story and how they like to celebrate the holiday of love.
How did you two meet?
We met in 2004, at a coffee shop in New York. A mutual friend had set it up as a double date, but we weren't being set up for each other. We always laugh when we think back on it. We sat side by side all night, exchanging glances, laughing and trying to find out more about each other. We had no idea we were really being set up with other people. We sat in the parking lot long after the coffee shop closed and everyone else had left. We spent the night making future plans and talking about how we lived only a few miles apart, but never met until that moment. It's unbelievable to think that was ten years ago.
How many Valentine's have you celebrated together as a couple?
This will be our 11th Valentine's Day together!
Do you have an all time favorite Valentine's Day memory?
I think one of the most memorable Valentine's Days we had was our first one together. We were only 17 and 18 years old! We picked up some take out from our favorite local restaurant and watched old movies all night together.
Do you give gifts on Valentine's Day?
Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. We usually make something for one another: a personalized song, a handwritten note, a collection of photos or a drawing. Thinking back over the years, it's the personalized gifts we have given each other that are the most special.
What are a few of your favorite love songs?
The first one that comes to mind is "Pigeon" by Tennis. The name may not be the prettiest but it has an old time feel to it and the lyrics are so beautiful. It was our wedding song. "Question" by Old 97s is another favorite. We used to listen to it almost every night when we first started dating.

GROWop holds a special place in our hearts. Before Kelly moved to Denver she was part of GROWop as one of the shops vintage sellers. They provided her an environment to learn and grow in. When you are in that environment you get better at selecting vintage pieces and understanding the process of selling in a shop setting.GROWop is not just a shop, not just a garden, it's where urban farming meets cooperative retail and a place for community, a place to grow.
The Growhouse garden teaches locals about urban desert farming, sustainable living, healthy eating and edible landscaping by allowing volunteers to help out every Sunday from 10 am - Noon. They also supply local cafes and markets with fresh produce. You can buy their produce at the Phoenix Farmer's Market during the months of October - May.
GROWop is located inside the Growhouse and is an artist collective and boutique full of gorgeous handmade and vintage pieces. GROWop stems from "growing opportunity", as they believe in giving vendors a place to learn and flourish when selling their goods. GROWop is open Tuesday - Sunday, Noon - 7pm and every First Friday.
Music has always played a major role in the Meeks' household. Since I was little I remember music constantly playing, whether it was at home, dancing around to Weezer's "Blue Album", or in the car, Cadence belting out every word to Alanis Morisette's "Hand In My Pocket".
My parents met as teenagers through the local music scene, so they regularly exposed us to all genres of music, and as we've grown and explored our own music tastes, we have been able to expose our parents to music as well. Music is something that brings us all together, whether its me (Emma) and my dad attending Riot Fest, or going record shopping as a family, it's something we all enjoy.
While we have a lot of similarities in the artists we love, we have our own individual taste. So we decided rather than compiling one Valentine's playlist between us, we would make three individual, that allows our personalities to shine through. Below you will find our favorite love songs...

For the past couple of years, along with the rest of the word, we have been falling hard for everything cacti. Today we adventured out to North Denver, to check out a huge plant nursery, that was recommended to us by a local shop owner. When we arrived, we were not disappointed at Paulino Garden's offerings. The nursery was full of natural light, peeking through the greenhouse windows and full of every kind of plant life you could imagine. We picked up a variety of succulents, air plants, and cacti. We love filling up the corners of our home with them because it gives us a little piece of Phoenix here in Denver.
